How much does temp affect shocks?
As I was driving home from a buddies house tonight I noticed my shocks seemed much more stiff than they have been. Usually on the same curves in the highway I have to hold on to the steering wheel pretty hard to keep myself from leaning into the door real hard and thats a hard task to do. Usually the body roll is real bad. Tonight I was driving those curves at 70 and had minimal body roll compared to before. I know temperature affects oil viscosity but its only 69 degrees outside. I dont remember my last merc being like this and I dont notice it in the mazda. What do you guys think?

I had a worn out volvo once that would bottom out on the rear on cold mornings- which would be the opposite of your experience.

I notice a HUGE difference. But I am taking temps 50+ compared to 30-.

I wish my shocks were stiff. They're just about dead....
But yes I have noticed the car (my one with good shocks) is a bit stiffer when cold out, everything is stiff when its cold!

They might be stiffer first thing in the morning but they'll warm up within a few stops and bumps. Maybe you drove a Coupe de Ville before you got in your car.

I didnt think 69 degrees would make a difference but it seems the more I drive the car the better it gets. The car is handling a little better and the engine sounds better and best of all the fuel economy is getting better. I got 400 miles to a tank where as I was getting about 330. Its still not as economical as the mazda and never will be but its not too shabby.

400 is much better. Not sure of the tank size, but on 20 gallons I get 300 miles with my gaser. The tank is about 23 gallons, but I fill-up when the reserve light comes on, which comes on with 3.3 gallons remaining. I would think with any diesel your milage should be higher.
