W210 E300 Instrument Cluster/Electrical short

Please help with the following:

I have been having problems with the battery dying after a few stop and starts. I did not find a paracitic draw with the inginition switch in the off position. And the battery checked out good. I suspect some kind of short when the car is running. In my wisdom I have complicated matters - I pulled out the instrument cluster to change a few burnt out bulbs. I know I have erred when putting the cluster back by not removing the main battery wire When I first put the cluster back, I would not get the glow plug light. It ran through all the fault messages and the three lights on the left side stays on and the glow plug light came on and stayed on on start of the car. Mileage and time were showing. I then removed the battery wire and removed and reinstalled the cluster a few times. The cluster is completely dark and the only indicator that comes on is the SRS light. Could the cluster issue be related to an electrical short or is the cluster fried??? Any suggestions??

I had similar experience with my Cluster & I had to get mine replaced (96-97 W210 are plug & play).

I did get mine rebuilt and have it sitting in Garage. If you are in US & interested in purchase PM me.
