Sunroof Euro Version 1984 300D
I have a Euro Version 1984 300D...the sunroof was working just fine and then for no reason tried to open it and Nothing.
I can hear the motor trying to open it..but it isn't moving...what would be the remedy and how do you get to it..because of the headliner and the cover over the bottom of the sunroof...Thanks for any help...Happy Motoring !!!

You may have a broken cable. You can remove the headliner on the sunroof by opening the sunroof 6" or so and then pulling down on the front of the headliner. It is held in place by clips. You can then slide the headliner out and check the cable. You can open the sunroof manually from inside the trunk. You can remove the plastic side panel and see the motor and the thing you turn to move the sunroof. I don't recall which side it is on, perhaps passenger.

yes, pull the trunk liner on the driver's side, and you will see the motor. if the cable tube is rusty, you've found your problem. if not, see if the nut turns while you have someone push the sunroof controls...

The sun roof liner has 6 Diamond shape clips that pop into some holes.
Don`t get too agressive with it, or you will bend the metal strip across the front edge. Open the roof back, and pull down to unclip, then slide it forward and up out through the top opening. Charlie

see the 17mm nut in the center of the mount bracket? watch it, while someone actuates the sunroof.
if the nut turns, it's not in the gearbox, it's in the cable.
