91 300D. low miles find
I bought the 91 300D I had asked on here about.
It was too good to pass up. Guy wanted all of the money for it. But the dang thing is NEW! It still has the analog phone. You know the corded big mounted cell phone with the hands free. 28850 miles when I drove away with it. Maine car, but never seen a winter. Car drove great. Has a couple leaking injector return lines. I replaced a few when I got home with ones I had kicking around. It needs a fuel filter and some diesel purge. Only thing that seems to not work *or at least doesn't work like my SD.. it doesn't lock all the doors from outside when you lock drivers door. Still has inspectors tag in the ashtray. That's never been used. I swear that the rear seat has hardly ever been sat in. Foam is still hard. Tan MB tex is near flawless. Has a new battery in it. Tires are new. I paid 8k for it. Happy as can be with how it drives compared to the 85 300SD with 250k on it. JP |
nice find!
pics please. the door locks should indeed function like the SD. my wagon also locks from passenger's door, and rear hatch, so yours should at least lock from the passenger's side, if not the trunk as well. |
Why not post some pictures?

big fish story
I agree with pics. I once caught a fish this big...
just kidding. i also was lucky enough to get a low mileage W124. it is a 1995 E300d to be exact and i just rolled over to 38k with it. gratz on the find. |
I really hope this cherry car does not get a SVO system installed.

It may encourage you to know that, even after a lot of miles, if these cars are well taken care, they will drive just the same. My 92 300D with 231k is as perfect driving-wise as my 91. |
lol
I'll take a few pics. It's gonna go in a barn for the winter. So I'm not gonna clean it.
I woke up at 5 just to go play with it a bit. Door locks not locking from either front door. JP |
Pictures of 91 300d. 28k miles
Ok, I snapped a few pics real quick.
I have a few questions to go along with them. :) 1. MAN is it tight getting the fuel filter out! I had to loosen the two bolts on the housing and it was STILL tough to get it out. I learned that it's NOT the same filter as my SD. Oh well, had one on the shelf. 2. Primary plastic filter was a pain. Had some odd little clamps on it. I don't think I'm enough of a purist to keep those. 3. I have a pic of the numbered 1 to 8 thing that I think is what controls idle. There is NO pin in any of the 8 ports??? |

I change my filters at the car wash. Then wash the car.

That line
So that line that's in front and in the way is brake booster? I can see how that out of the way would let you just come forward with the filter.
No filter local. I'll call phil when he opens. JP |
