Is my w123 blower motor shot?

My blower motor just quit, was working fine and then... Nothing.

So I pulled it apart and found voltage at the plug.

Dug a little deeper and noticed that once I plug the motor in I no longer have voltage across the wires, unplug the motor and voltage returns.

The bearing looks fine and i don't see or smell any signs of damage.

Is it time for a replacement?

sounds like the fuse is corroded.

Yep, fuse does sound like a likely suspect. Just spin the fuse a little with your fingernail and it should make a better connection.

Some things you might try after checking and/or replacing the fuse:
Spin the motor shaft by hand and make sure there's no binding. Power disconnected of course.
Test it with a known good 12V battery. Be careful of the torque of the motor and not to mince your hands.

Great, thanks I will give that a try.

Turning by hand the fan spins with a slight resistance, seems normal.

That did the trick.

The fuse looked fine but upon closer inspection I found a hairline crack through the metal strip at one end.

Replaced it and the blower works fine.

Now to figure out why I'm in fifth gear by the time I hit 30mph.

If you're referring to an automatic transmission, there's a lot of people wondering how you manage to get it in fifth at all.
