96 e300d air in line

Hi Guys
Air in line( shut off valve to lift pump) also it looks like fuel is going
the other way. The car is parked on a incline. Hard starting in the morning
The lines were replaces about a year ago. I dont see air in any other line
than the shut off valve to lift pump could it be the shut off valve is bad?
Thanks Greg

You could try adding a (one way) check valve to prevent fuel drain-back, or any flow "the wrong way". This can help keep things primed too, so faster start.

Maybe $15 on ebay, there's a seller there catering to diesel owners search "diesel check valve".

I remember having a similar issue. I solved it with a stop return valve which went between the oil filter housing and the return line (hard line back to tank).

At first I ordered just the valve but then I went back to dealer and also ordered the rubber line (which came with a valve) as this was perrished.

I've just gone through an old note book and I have 3 part numbers with no way of checking which one is which but maybe someone can chime in?

Part numbers are: A000 476 32 32. A000 476 3732. A124 470 95 75.

Also, these parts maybe available from the forum sponsor. I got mine from a dealer due to urgency but a pre-warning, these parts are quite expensive for what they are!

Hope this helps.

Should mean that you have a leaky oring prior to the lift pump. Check the SOV end of line 3, the SOV oring, both ends of line 2, the prefilter oring, and both ends of line 1.
