1981 300SD Where's The Flasher Relay?

On an '81 300SD, where is the flasher relay located?

If it is the same as in a '77 - '80 123 body it is in the four way flasher switch.

in the 81 - 85 w123's

I'm assuming that it's under the center console right in front of the shifter.

in the OP's car and any first generation w126 ('81 - '85) it's
Behind the instrument cluster.

Please note that if your turn signals have failed, it is often the hazard switch.

As a note for GenII W126 owners (1986 - 1991) and W124 owners, the flasher relay is in the under hood fusebox and also runs the rear defroster and delay wipers. The clicking sound you hear as the turn signals flash is a small noise maker installed inside the instrument cluster.

The W126 was in production 1981 - 1991.

1981 - 1985 is Gen one = Behind the instrument cluster.
Please note that if your turn signals have failed, it is often the hazard switch.

1986 - 1991 is Gen two = The flasher relay is in the fusebox under hood and also runs the rear defroster and delay wipers. The clicking sound you hear as the turn signals flash is a small noise maker installed inside the instrument cluster.
