never figured out what caused it to burn out, but it never blew again. sometime later i rewired all my glowplugs. originally they had been the solid copper wire (the loop style) for pencil glow plugs. i rewired in paralel with regular wire. don't know if that had anything to do with it but hasn' blown again....
