P0248 Code on OM 606 - Wastegate Solenoid

My friend's '99 E300D recently threw the following code: P0248 - Turbo/Super Charger Wastegate Solenoid "B" Range/Performance.

Symptoms are that the turbocharger no longer spools up. He checked wastegate flap to make sure it was operating properly. He did this by pulling the vacuum line off top of wastegate and attaching vaccum pump to make sure the vacuum pod on top of the wastegate was functioning. It was.

I know there has got to be more - like checking the switchover valve, boost sensor, etc.

Does anyone know what steps to take next and how to test the necessary items?

Thanks

Scott

1st step is to unplug the vent from the tranducer and confirm it isn't plugged. 2nd is to swap the Wastegate and EGR vacuum transducers and see if that resolves it, or if the code moves to the EGR. The two are identical. The parameters to set a code possibly differ which is why swapping sometimes works.

There are some ECU voltage tests and vacuum pump tests that can also be done. If I still ahve that data, I'll post it.

Thanks. That's exactly what I was looking for. If checking the transducers doesn't work, what's the next step?

The tests I have were for PO243 wastegate solenoid A and yours is B. Not sure what that one is.

PM me your email and I can send you what I have.
