Finally got to talk with current owner last night. Car does have a twin tank system with duel heaters. Will be interesting to play with. I've always been curious but have no real access to veg oil so i'll have to see.

He told me about the car in great detail. including that he replaced the timing chain a couple years ago, also had the injector tips replaced and the injectors pop tested. Reset the IP via the drip test, replaced the rear end and did the boots etc. plus a host of other things. Said the drivers seat is the only one that is palomino, rest are black. Said he even replaced all the rubber on the car, hoses etc, had custom braided lines made for the oil cooling...

I'm now kind of excited to actually go get the car. Should have it home this evening. Am going to go ahead and order the B2 piston this morning to get it on it's way.

He also said that all the windows etc work, he replaced the actuators in the rear etc. Over all is sounds like over the last few years he's done a ton of work to the car, driven it across the county etc.

Told me the car is originally a california car, and has zero rust... That would be a first for me. All in all, from the sounds of it and after talking with him, this car doesn't sound like a parts car.

Well that's a positive start, dual tanks, dual heat and two three-way valves sounds like whomever did the conversion knew something (quite a change from most recent 'my car has a wvo kit installed' threads I've seen around here).

Don't know how the price comparo would fare in your part of the continent, but some people just buy fresh cooking oils and run those. Of course not "free" like WVO, but WVO is hardly free either once you calculate the time needed to collect and filter, the purchase of equipment, etc....

Car sounds good but beware small mountain of minor issues on old w123s (wanna hear about MY wagon ?).

Good luck with it!

That car looks a lot like a car that belonged to a member here who drove it to CA about 7 yrs ago. Anyone remember the name of the car (yes it had one) or the member's name?

Well, the cars owner did drive it to california... might be the same guy.

Car need work, but nothing I can't handle. The VO system is really kind of cool, it actually has 3 heaters if you include the electric ones wrapped around the Injector lines themselves. It's disconnected right now, but he showed me how to hook it back up and said he would give me a schematic for it.

Engine runs really smooth, is quiet etc. I ask him to back it up which it did without issue, then he put it into drive... it went into gear! he looked a little shocked and said that it was the first time in 3 weeks that it had. Looking more and more like the B2.

Interestingly, something I didn't notice before, but he had the luggage rack removed and the holes filled when he had it painted... with no sunroof etc, it really gives the car an interesting and smooth look.

The sound system in the car is sick... meaning holy crap... Sony deck, fosgate speakers all around, amps, ipod hookup, and it will pound you out of the car plus sounds clean... he did a nice job. might find a new home in my CD along with the rims. I may be 45... but there are still times I like to jam LOL!

He filled the back with some extras like the new headliner, trim etc.

Car was originally silver, but has a decent paint job on it, jams done painted with all trim removed etc. engine compartment still silver. no biggy to me.

Oh, and he removed the EGR... replace with an older pre EGR header... looks really clean. very tempted to do the same with my CD.

Unfortunately, someone ran into the car after the paint work, so there is some minor body work needed on the rear quarter near the filler. and another spot on the pass front fender, And the windshield is cracked. Dash does have some standard cracking. so will be looking for a replacement.

Had a small issue going to get it so I have to run back down again tomorrow and bring my jack stands and my big jack so I can get under it to drop the drive line.

Well this one was hit also. I don't know the full history but the cars owner worked for another guy in CA who did vo conversions and sold them to others. The design of this system was from there.

From the timeline he was telling me the hit could have happened out there. I do know that he is familiar with the forum.

"Malinda" is home now.

Had a minor issue when I got home and the car rolled forward (dropped drive line) and ran into the rear of my truck... smashing the pass headlight. It was dark and cold/raining so I'll get out there today to see the actual damage.

I stopped by my painter and had him look the car over. For 600 bucks he'll repair all the dents in the car, (I'll need to source a new fuel door) and repaint the car for me in Mercedes Black Metallic.

Car started right up when I got down to pick it up, Even with the light flurries and rain we where having. When to into reverse just fine, and then back into drive just fine so I could move it into position to drop the drive shaft.

30% of the trim is already off the car so I'll continue and remove all of it and get it ready for the body man.

One thing is the car has the older style door panels, from a 70's something 280 I think... the one with that weave pattern... Actually I like it better. I'll get some new pictures later today all around the car and post them.

I have a complete black interior from a euro three hundred 1983 model with heated seats and adjustable lumbar....including the panel by the shifter with the heated seat switches. I have it advertised here for a reasonable price.

Looks much too nice to scrap out. The work on the valves looks very professional.

Electric...

Cool. I'll put together a list. I know it also is going to need a pair of reverse lights and a host of other little thing. Like I said, it might just make more sense to drive your way and do some shopping...
