w126 - replaced mono valve... now no heat at all?

on Saturday I replaced the mono valve in my 300SD per the usual symptoms, and it looked to be the culprit, as the rubber had a typical tear in it. it required a fair bit more force to get out than I expected, but I thought I put it all back together the right way but I could be wrong. I even tried unplugging it with no success. very timely to have no heat...

no fuses blown. any ideas where to start?

thanks.

Take it back apart and see what it looks like? Do you still have the old torn one to replace it with? Maybe your new monovalve is a dud.

Are you certain you reassembled it with all the pieces in the same order?

...........and, therein lies the secret to your problem. The insert should fall right out of the housing without any force. If it's binding in the housing, it cannot cycle and operate the diaphragm to open and close the flow.

Mine was a bit tight in the housing when I did it last month, though not so much as the OP describes here.

Is there a fix to the tightness issue, or does it mean buying a complete new assembly?

Mine seemed to work a bit inconsistently the first week but now is working great.

I would presume that there is a bit of corrosion on the inside of the aluminum housing that can be cleaned up with some fine emery cloth. The valve must shuttle inside the housing...........if there is any binding, it cannot do that.

There is another supplier.

The Bosch is still available in Canada, or was about a month ago. However, it was somewhere around $100 and the other kit was about $45 I think.

I can go out and find the box if anyone wants the supplier name. I just don't recall (it wasn't a common name, no NOT URO I do remember that much).

Try again now. Tripod, the host, seems to be having issues.

The direct link just started working again for me.

But for some reason, when the direct link didn't work, if you went into Google and type in "monovalve repair procedure" the page would load from the resulting link and the pic is there.

Possibly Google was loading a cached page. I don't know....

The other supplier, MTC, is crap too. I chose another four letter word but it is blocked. :D

I had their shifter bushings fall apart in about eight months on my 735i...

Ah. Well. That fills me with warm n'fuzzies.

I think that was the supplier for the one I used. The parts supplier I got it from actively tracks feedback on what they supply, so if it's keerap I will let them know.

All I got was a blank page with the Tripod logo in the upper left.

Try going to The Unofficial MB Diesel DIY Pages

And go to the bottom of the page. Click on the photo.

For some reason Tripod doesn't like the link to the pic being used directly. The rest of the page works fine for me right now....
