I found a company that makes a 4, 6, and 8 circuit fuse block... rated for 30Amps each circuit!
also, they sell 80, 100, and 150 amp circuit breakers for the cars...

I took pics, and I'll post them with model numbers etc soon...

Doesn't anyone make self-regulating glow plugs for the W123s?

Sincerely,

PE

Is this like a NARTAB equalizer? If so, grab it, they are scarce as hen's teeth, haven't seen one since the 1970s!

That's what I thought but since the plug holes are larger I didn't know.

I converted "Ciselle the Diesel" (1977 240D late 1976 MFG. Date) to the 18MM fast glow plugs using the info found in this thread. I went straight conversion using the 1977 240D relay, main fuse, etc. I must say this is an EZ+PZ conversion. Took me longer to fabicate the series jumpers than to do the conversion. I did a straight bolt in the GP's jumper them, use the hot lead from the strip fuse connected to #4 Gp and ditched the ground wire as the new GP's ground to the block. Went inside timed it 5 seconds and "Ciselle" roared to life easier and quicker than ever before. Had I know this conversion was this simple, I would have done it the first time around. WOW simply Wow!

FYI the 1977 GP relay does work, but mine sticks every so often and will not turn off the glow. I wrapped the relay a good one, glow went off and now kicks off when the engine starts like it should. I know a new relay is in the offing, but it is working well right now. So a straight conversion does work!!!

FYI World Pac (CarQuest), does stock these GP's but you have to ask for 1980 240D GP's to get the right (18MMK) GP's. Thought I'd pass this alomg for those that can use the info.

Be careful in just asking for OE plugs from a certain year and expecting to get retrofit pencil plugs. As far as I know, the retrofit pencil plugs were never OE on any MB's.

You have to be sure they are the 18MM ones, everything else is way too small. They are an optional GP. We sourced it by Bosch Part Number and the guy found it as a 1980 240 D option, but not for any earlier year. Yep you have to ask that they are 18MM or by Bosch Part Number. They are NOT OEM.

Note:

A nice potential addition for both diagnosis and safety:

You can add a Maxi fuse block between the relay and glow plugs, loaded with 20 AMP fuses.

This will blow a single fuse any time a glow plug short circuits, alerting you to an issue.
You can quickly and easily pull single fuses for resistance/OHM testing.
