300TD Shock question
I am thinking of buying a 84 Euro 300TD. The rear shock(1) Leaks. The question is can one replace the shocks with a set of regular shocks? What is involved? The rear shocks run about $350.00 Each ouch!!!!! Thanks

Lots of threads on that topic here. In my view, no one in their right mind would replace the absolutely first class SLS system with standard shocks. Find used hydraulic rams if necessary.

It's a lot more work to remove the whole system and than it is to replace the strut. They are pretty durable parts and seem to last a long time, so good used ones aren't hard to find.

I agree with the recommendations to replace the leaky shock. You can probably do it more cheaply than you can convert, and if the system is otherwise working okay it's unlikely to give you any trouble. It seems complicated but it's actually pretty robust, and it's really nice to have when you put a heavy load in the back.
