I doubt you are built like a gorilla. A moderate force is okay. The normal forces many of the engine parts see while running is very strong in comparison to what you can dish out.

You have to be certain if the engine is bound up or not. A fairly hefty pull with a socket on the crank nut and your hand on a rachet handle. Or you will have to probably pull the glow plugs otherwise to be sure. If it is jammed up think of the forces it saw when the starter was engaged.

You could.........whether it will assist in rotation is unknown.

Only basically to see if the crank can move a little with some slack in the chain.. It will not lessen the requirements for turning the crank all that much before trying. Worse it may not indicate where the issue is.

If it will move one way somewhat then reverse the ratchet handle and see if it will go the otherway a little as well. All this if there is absolutly no movement when trying with the chain tensioner installed.

Can't hurt to try it...........maybe the offending component will slip off the chain..........if there is one.

Well with even the glow plugs removed the engine wont turn. I hope that when i remove the tensioner i can see if the engine will even rotate and if the chain is even the problem.

Do you have the valve cover off? Have you looked at the cam? Have you looked at the timing device? How you look up thru the pan at the chain and gear?

Valve cover is off and the chain and cam are in good condition. I took the oil pan off and found metal shavings in their. From the oil pan you can look up and see the chain. I am going to take an inspection camera and check all the gears and tensioner for debris

The most likely place for entrapment is where the chain meets the crankshaft sprocket.
