1995 E300D 606 losing prime parked up hill, fuel filter mod anynoe?

This sucker will never prime up and start parked facing up hill. I already replaced return lines and injector orings and seals on the IP. I replaced fuel filter and orings on the filter bolt.

The fuel filter housing and lines is my biggest dissapointment with this 606 engine. Why did they use plastic instead of the nice metal banjo bolts and copper washers ? There are like 50 places this thing could be leaking air.

Anyway, I found this nice post by Whunter and will order fuel lines Monday. 1995 E300 D Plastic injection pump lines, OM606.910
It does look wet around the lift pump.

Also I 've read about overflow valve or non-return valve. But i can't find them on the car. Where is that? The W124 programmed repairs says: Replace non-return valve (black anodized) -- part no :000 475 37 32

And this post mentions a fuel cutoff valve leaking. Does he mean the stop screw that threads into the filter and has those two orings on it?
I Diesel Problems??

Thanks

tank strainer

I bet the non-return valve is the check valve in the 90 degree rubber hose coming out of your filter housing. My 95 doesn't have one.

The fuel shut off valve is what the filter screws into. It has o-rings and leaks. I tore my old one apart and replaced all of the o-rings. Search here to read about it.

You may be having an issue with fuel getting out of the tank. How long has it been since you cleaned the tank strainer and fuel sending unit? That might be your problem. Just a thought.

Check out this thread: '95 E300 won't start when hot. Any ideas?

You can add a check valve even if you don't have one installed from the factory. Check valves are available on ebay for about $14.00. 5/16 is the size you should use. I hope that fixes your problem.
