a 83SD customer calls me...
"John, the car was running normally and I pulled off at my exit, came to a stop, and the car felt like it was running poorly, and then it stalled...
I could start it, but just barely. it dies after lifting foot from the pedal, and it has nearly zero power." as I was on the totally opposite side of town from him at the time, I recommended he contact MB roadside assistance for help with the car. they of course informed him his car had not been in for service in the last 18 months, and a free service trip would not be coming... arrgh. he didn't call me back after that, and he did a few things I told him to do, and got moving... anybody want to guess what I told him to do? |

I'm thinking filters and bubbles like compu_85. I'd also check linkage and air flow.

yup. I told him to open his glove box and remove the clear plastic fuel filter I put in there, and to install it. car drove home normally.
then he calls me tonight, battery is also dead... volt meter I got for him is reading 9.75 with the motor running... he's burned out my alternator, and is killing my battery... (long story) I told him to charge the battery tonight, and first thing in the morning, drive to my house, help me with stuff I'm moving, and I'll put in a new VR... |
Check all linkage to engine STOP lever
or undo fuel line and blow back into the tank to unclog in tank screen cough.......cough.... |
