fuse 14 popping 84 300d
can a stuck monovalve cause fuse to pop?
when i turn on vent i only get warm air from side and floor vents. no heat control. fuse 14 now pops . it controls horn, back up lamps, rear window heater, trans solenoid, and aux water pump. how can i test current draw at fuse panel? could it be my aux water pump? help needed. |

horn is most likely of those parts.
only way to know for sure is to start unplugging things until you find the part that's popping the fuse. aux pump is nothing of a load on the fuse, but if totally shorted out, it can wreak havoc on the electrical system. but it'll not pop a fuse, it'll short out your ccu. it's why many of us have installed an in line fuse of 1amp to the aux pump's circuit.

I've seen where back up lamps wiring gets frayed and shorts to the chassis too...

Fuse 14 BLOWING- AUX WATERPUMP
Well i think i got it ! nicked kickdown wire near solenoid on tranny. PO tried to cover with plain vinyl electrical tape. I cleaned up, wrapped with rubber insulating tape. everything seems fine even with a 5 amp fuse.
My monovalve electrical plug may also have been a little loose so i cleaned the contacts and secured with a tie wrap. Thanks for all the help. Now I get to replace a leaky radiator on my Tacoma PU. |
