W124 w/ASR brake bleed question

93, 300D, 2.5T with ABS and ASR.

I need to replace the brake hoses at the calipers, they are badly cracked. So, I will need to do some bleeding. I see posts on the ASR cars require an additional step. I have seen a couple things that seem conflicting so I would like some advice.
  • Do I need to bleed the ASR 'SP' port if I am just bleeding the brake hoses (not a wholesale fluid flush)?

Assuming I will be bleeding the ASR unit, here are the big questions.
  • This is the procedure I believe I should follow:

    1) With motor off, drain the bleed screw 'SP' at the ASR

    2) Bleed the 4 brake calipers

    3) Turn ignition on, bleed the ASR 'SP' port. Once clear bubble free fluid is coming out, close the 'SP' bleeder and the pump will run about 30 seconds.

Then I am done I guess?

Is the order of this correct with the ASR drain, caliper bleed, then finish with ASR bleed?
  • Can I do all of this drain and bleeding using a simple pressure pump/tank system (the garden spayer setups)?
  • Does this ASR system just use the fluid from the brake resevoir or is there more to it? The reason I ask is I have this hydraulic fluid resevoir right next to it that I have no idea what it is. I don't have SLS shocks on the back so I assumed it is not for SLS Very confused obviously.

Check that. I am really confused. My car has ASD (at least there is a dash light for that and the owners manual talks about it). Not sure now if I have what is called ASR. What the heck is the difference and how do I tell. My owners manual says nothing about 'ASR'. Sorry for confusion, still need to know how to bleed these brakes though!!!
