With USAA, I have my '83 300D and '97 Honda CRV. We have the full coverage with $250 deductible. Florida is a very expensive state, as I found out when I tried shopping around. But for both cars, we pay about $1,350 per year.

Its only 300k coverage for liability and I think 200k for my own passengers. Its progressive. Deductible is $500.

USAA ftw

I have a 1984 300D, 1983TD and a 2001 VW Passat GLX 4Motion between my wife and I. All cars have full coverage, between $250-$500 deductible, towing and rental cars.

The cost? $148/month. $50 a car per month with full coverage isn't that bad. I'm still trying to figure out how the OP gets over a third more for ONE of the cars I have.

I pay $504/yr for my '83 300D, and $650/yr for the 2003 Dodge Ram with Nationwide. I paid twice as much when I lived on LI with the same company.

Well, I shopped the different companies when I first arrived in Florida. Even though I had no moving violations, no accidents in 5 years (which didn't even come up since they only ask about 3 years), the insurance companies in FL wanted $850 for basic liability!!!! That would have been $1700 for two cars!!!! . . .and that's without anything above legal liability as required by law!!!! So I put the other car on my policy, and stopped complaining!!!! for $1300/yr. USAA requires the 300K policy, and I've added on the uninsured motorist (now that we're liability vs. no-fault), as well as comprehensive on both cars. So, I consider myself ahead of the game!!!!

USAA offered classic car insurance through a third party provider, however, there were so many restrictions on the policy that it was not worth it. The classic car insurance is not designed for a daily driver.

I can insure all three of my cars for both myself and my wife with pretty high coverage and comprehensive (1990 300E, 1989 420SEL, and 1982 300SD) for less than $650 per 6 months.....and I take the 420 off insurance about 5 months a year since it doesn't see snow....so even more savings. Citizens Insurance.

I looked at them once when I had a Saab 95...unless you're parking it in a secure, enclosed garage, they don't want to talk to you.

Hagerty wouldn't even look at my 83 300TD, even if antique plates and a secure enclosed garage. It apparently wasn't classic enough.

I ended up going with American Collectors out of Cherry Hill NJ.
They wanted the enclosed garage, which makes sense. They are not nearly as restrictive as some other carriers.
It can't be a daily driver, but nor is it as "only polish with a diaper and don't breathe on it" restrictive policy.
They understand there is a need to actually drive the car, whether for mechanical and/or personal pleasure reasons.

I have my '85 300D and my '72 350SL with Hagerty (in Canada). I think I pay something like $260/yr for both of them. They require you to have another car as your daily driver and you have to submit the insurance to prove that. If like with us, there are two drivers, then you need to have two daily drivers. Hagerty don't set any specific mileage limits but car should not be used for work or shopping etc. The other big plus, was that they did not require an appraisal. I checked with CAA in Canada (Like AAA) and they ialso insure through Hagerty or at least the same underwriter and policies are similar.

Well when you are younger it doesn't matter what you drive, what matters is that your a new driver and highly likely to get into an accident.

200 a month +/- is about the going rate if your under 18 around here, and that's on your parents insurance with no collision.

When I was 17 Allstate wanted $3,400 a year for my own policy for a 10 year old Toyota, no collision.

Well I knew why I had to pay more than most people but it just didn't make sense why the estimate rate skyrocketed.

AAA wanted an arm and a leg for full insurance on my SDL... over $120 a month They said it was because parts would be so expensive.

Amica isn't nearly as bad.
