1998 E300D Glow Plugs Stuck - Head coming off!
Very long story, but the short version is that the dealer is removing the head on my 1998 E300D because two of the plugs got stuck and broke off. The car has 208k on the clock, so I was wondering if there were any other things I should have done, since the head is off - thinking like timing chain, valve job, etc. The car runs real well, except for a little sputter around 2k rpm while shifting gears, but I'm pretty sure that's related to injectors, which I am having cleaned and pop tested/balanced. Any ideas are very much appreciated.

can't believe that the professionals can't remove glow plugs without breaking them. there is plenty of info in these forums on how to do it. secondly there is also info here on how to remove the broken ones without removing the head. sounds to me like you should introduce them to peackparts. i also feel that they should eat the cost.
as far as having anything done while it's down, unless you have low compression which i doubt just haveem put it back together thanks, hunt |

Sucks about the glow plugs. I doubt that at 208k, your injectors are spraying properly or within spec. I bet the nozzles and pintles need to be replaced. Doubtful cleaning them will do much good.

At least a regrind on the head surface and a pressure test.
