Luk PS pump question
I tried to remove the gasket from the lid of my luk pump because I think that's where the leak is coming from. I thought I'd be a smart guy and make a temp gasket out of an old truck inner tube. When I tried to remove it, it cracked.
I rebuilt the pump in 2008, but I didn't put in a new gasket under the lid. Is there enough pressure inside the reservoir to spritz ps fluid out? My gasket is likely original (95 e300d). What's a new gasket feel like? Is it flexible?

There's no pressure in the reservoir, just splashing from the return line and sloshing when you take turns. I haven't looked at the gasket for a while but I remember seeing a cork gasket. Maybe that was on an older MB. Are you sure there isn't a front seal leak getting kicked around by the pulley?

i don't know
Good thought Sixto. However, the pulley is dry inside. Today I replaced return line and clamps and the pressure line. Pressure line looked okay, but stiff. The return line was hard, almost inflexible and expanded waaay more than the replacement return hose I installed. I'll make a temp rubber gasket until I can get a legit replacement.
The problem with replacing multiple parts is that if you fix the problem, you aren't really sure what did the trick.
