How much to ship 10 cars on a truck to the midwest?

How much to ship 10 cars on a truck to the midwest?

Can somebody find out about drive-aways, or rail...

I would need a $1000 profit for 10 cars. That is only $100/car as a fee.

Might be able to swing $500/car to purchase a rust free hulk.

Waddya think?

240Ed;
Man, I wish I could help you. I know what you are doing & I think its great.
People - You have got to try find out the shipping costs, for if 240Ed cant get these good MB bodies out there they will be crushed. In the midwest where the cars rust people need these cars from the sunshine belt.

I will be following the progress of your enterprise, Ed.

I'd love to see you do it Ed, and by the way I'm still looking for a clean tailgate for a 300TD (w123) so load on a wagon if you find one!

Boy, all you guys lickin your chops over what you want instead of trying to figure out how to get them here....

I say you should install a trailer ball on the FRONT AND REAR of each car you want to bring... then weld up a pipe with a trailer coupling on each end... then you line them up... putting the two strongest ones in the front and simply train them to the Midwest.... I have done this with my tractor and multiple implements many times....I would suggest the lowest route..the southern route through Arizona seems like a good candidate for this... Greg

Cool

Ahhh! one of the benefits of southern California. Lots of old cars with no rust! A lot of dents though. Big city driving and parking takes its toll. Mine has been tagged in the front before. Very nicely repaired I must say but hardly a speck of rust. I once owned a 64 190 sedan. Same deal, Not one speck of rust. If anyone is interested, Email me and I could send you a copy of the Auto trader where I found my car. I could be of some assistance if someone was serious about buying one from so-Cal.

My traffic manager says......

About $1,500 from CA to the Midwest via a car carrier. He hasn't booked them in a few years, but he said that they hold about 10 cars and the quote above is about right.

If you want a firm quote, give me the ship from and ship to zip codes and we'll get the quote

$150 per car to ship is not bad. I would certainly be interested. This is going to take some time and will be alot of work for the person(s) on the west end of this.

Vehicles will have to be found and purchased up front and relocated until a load is accumulated. Up front money will have to be provided. How feasible is it to have multiple drop off points? I guess anywhere in SE Michigan is OK for me or maybe I'll have to tow it in from Ohio, from I-80 in Toledo.

Stop offs difficult

Not only will stop off's be "extra", and maybe quite a bit extra, but it would obviously be important to note which cars to load first and which to load last to facilitate drop off's. Tough to do if no one supervises loading.

Stuff like insurance and the like would be more $ as well, but not to the extent that it would inflate the cost a ton.

Yeah, $150 would not be too bad!

Ha, if only.

Did someone post something different? About $1500 to ship 10 cars is about $150 per car.

What kind of car can you expect to aquire for about $500? At this point I'd say I'm interested and would like to investigate this alittle further. A friend is interested also.

Michael,

I read the post from JCD as $1500/car and that sounds about right. Too expensive!

If I am wrong on this (I HOPE I am) and it is really $150/car, then this is great!!!!

....but I dunno...

Anything other than driving it on and driving it off will be extra

As you know TXBILL, anything over normal, is extra.

240 ED, give me an idea of what you want to do, i.e.

Ship from zipcode or address
Ship to zipcode or address.

# of cars

Drive on or not running

Stop'off;s

Approximate value of cars and insurance if required.

With this, I can have my traffic manager get a "quote".

My zip code in Michigan is 48114, but if the route is along I-80, it may be cheaper to drop off along I-80 in Toledo, Ohio than to detour 1 1/2 hours north on M-23 to Brighton.
