W115 front/rear windows seals
Anyone got a source for these? It appears that there are two separate seals; thus assembly order would be seal to body (seal 1) > chrome trim > seal to window (seal 2) > window. The rear window appears the same. But the seals I find online are all one single round seal...
Also the local auto glass hop is quoting me $400 to replace front and rear windshield seals (I provide the seals). Anyone have an idea whether this is fair or whether I should be looking to DIY this? |

Its only one seal, front and one seal for the back.
I highly recommend you have it replace by a pro, however i did do them myself on my old W115. You must fully understand how to install the windshield properly or it will leak and you could break the glass in the process. Only buy the seals from Mercedes, DO NOT use aftermarkets they just dont seal as good and they go bad faster.

So, buy the seals from a dealership? There's no back-alley internet way to get the same MB seals without dealership tax?

I've used non oem seals on my w123....and have had no problems with them...They are a lot better then the dry cracked ones originally on it...I have heard that the seals at the dealer should be avoided, as they have been sitting on the shelf for years...and once you put them on...they crack very soon after...I am sure it is true...If all you can afford is aftermarket, they are a hell of a lot better then the dry cracked ones. Dealership quoted me $190 for front and $170 for rear, apparently there were two different seals used over the production of the 115. $360 total + $350 labor - ouch. I guess it's cheaper than floorboards down the road...
As far as getting the cheaper ones, I don't want to waste $350 labor charge if they will need to be replaced sooner than MB seals... |

P.S. Anyone have experience DIY'ing the trunk seal? There must be some type of adhesive involved? I would like to tear out the old one and reinstall the new one myself if possible...
