"It's" strange but regional trends / fashion do seem to make a difference to what's good and what's not. In Holland I get the feeling that only Bosch will do no matter what.
I feel that perhaps Bosio got its name from a website of a rather large oil burning chap!

Considering that Bosio was established in 1927, you should perhaps feel differently.

additional evidence is still being collected, but reports are trickling in that QC has slipped of late with their process...

Now we are getting int VW stuff.
People use the VW Rabbit Nozzles in the Volvo Diesels even though the Volvo Nozzle must be slightly different; any way the one for Volvos will cost more. About 15 years ago the original Bosch Nozzles for VW Rabbits were $11 and the ones sold in my are were from Brazil. (Brazil makes the whole Cars also, both gasoline and Diesel.) I have read of people wanting a cheap fix using the VW Rabbit Nozzles in Mercedes Injectors. If you do that on a 617 you will end up with something that aproximates a Bosio Nozzle because like the Bosio there is no extra passages or facets for low amounts of injected Fuel. On my first Mercedes Injector rebuild I used brandX ($16 each) type Injectors that I was told were made by 7Diesel. He claimed they were from Italy. No way to prove or disprove that. After about a year or so they started nailing a little. It could have been a need to change the IP timing but I opted to rebuild again with Monark Nozzles. I liked the Monark Nozzles enough that I rebuilt a set of Injectors for the Volvo Diesel with them; even though they are not made for that application.

What reports? Trickling in from where? How about something of substance?

The rebuilding of the Block done at a resonable cost because I used VW Rabbit Pistons made in Brazil at $47 each. Pistons from the Volvo Dealer were around $147 each. The 2nd best price I could find on the Pistons was $75 each.

Seriously, you can't leave us with a cliffhanger like that. I was looking to rebuild or have my injectors rebuilt this summer but now you are suggesting that Monarks aren't the silver bullet they used to be? Are the bosch nozzles of decent quality compared to the complete rebuilt units from India?

They are an alternative nozzle. They fail for the same reasons as any other nozzle. If your old nozzles are bad due to water in fuel or injection pump issues the money is wasted. MONARK nozzle design is better for WVO, because it is more forgiving of inadequate filtration and semi-jelled sludge. Do not fall for hype. Critical elements for long nozzle life: * New heat shields every time the injector is loosened!!! * Good filtration (change them every year). * Keep the fuel tank near full (to minimize condensation). * Regular valve adjustment. * Correct injection timing (replace the old chain). * Correct injection pump calibration. * Adding a few ounces of cetane boost to every tank. * Never condemn a nozzle until you see the pop test. * Only replace the damaged nozzle, and have the set balanced. . "additional evidence is still being collected, but reports are trickling in that QC has slipped of late with their process..." No one said in this thread that Monark nozzles are silver bullets, only positive reports from those who have used them, myself included. If Monark nozzle quality has suffered recently, I want to know about it, but I want to see proof and facts.
