1953 170Ds on Craigslist.

Check it out a 1953 170Ds for sale in Portland, OR, no affiliation, but I'd like to be affiliated. Anyone got $5k they want to give me?

1953 Mercedes 170DS Diesel *Classic Car*

Selling a great restoration project car - 1953 Mercedes 170DS. The car is from California, only surface rust (*no cancer*). I have kept it garaged, however due to health reasons wont be able to restore it, so I am looking someone who loves classic Mercedes to take care of it. It was running when it was parked 4 years ago. 4 speed standard transmission. 4 cylinder diesel engine. Asking $5000 or best offer.

Also selling a 1952 Mercedes 170DS for $15000. Restoration project almost compete.

Same guy has another one for $15k. Very cool car, but not a cheap project by any means. There couldn't have been very many of these in the US.

I could dig the blue one as a Rat rod daily driver, doing only mechanical work as needed to make it safe.

Cool.

There was a "barn find" in north central Ohio in December on CL. Same model/year. Reportedly had literally sat since the 80's. The car had sunk to the floor boards/axles into the dirt floor. That was the deal breaker for me.

Was going for essentially scrap - $400.

I'm with Tom. Buy the blue one, get it running and drive it. I love the suicide doors.

I don't think it would matter what was under the hood. It would be a head turner for sure. I really wish I had the spare cash to buy one of them. I've never seen a 170 on CL before, or seen one in person. I wish I was a little closer so I could go look at them in person.

That cummins would be too heavy! I imagine it would be double the weight of the little benz diesel.

What is deceaving about that 170 is that it is a pretty small car....think the size of a 34 ford, possibly smaller.

I love the 617, but I think a 300HP 606 would be more appropriate

You could come to my house and see one. It's on the list to be restored. Other things first including an R107
