Getting body work done on the rear door opening and need to remove the sill plate and the soft molding around the door opening. There is probably a trick to this. Any ideas.
Help!

The Sill plate is held on with a friction fit on the pinch weld. there are about 4 clips under the plate. grab the edge of the plate and five it a pull up, and the clips will release. when it releases, will sound like you broke it.

After the plate is removed, the cloth trim is just pushed on a lip. Pull it toward you starting on one end and work your way around.

Thanks Charlie. To release the door sill do I pry from one end, don't understand a pinch weld. Can you clear that up for me
Thanks

isn`t your Sill flat across the front edge, say 3 inches, then a round ridge? grab the front edge and lift up. under the area where the round ridge is, is where the clips snap onto the pinch weld under the Sill.

I would grab the Sill with both hands, and lift up.

You could experiment with a PNP car if there is one close to you.

Thanks Charlie for this info. I lifted the front edge right behind the post and it popped off. Then lifted to the rear to remove, real easy. The entrance soft molding came off easy as well with a pull towards the outside of the car.
Thanks again
