Bypass Thermo-Valve

A plastic piece broke off my thermo-valve and I bypassed it for now

Seems like all the thermo-valve does is make the EGR wait to function until the engine is up to temp

Is there any negative effects from bypassing it?
Like, should I even worry about replacing it?

What car?

If it's a W123 with the 617, don't worry about it-I ran mine for a long time (off road of course) with no EGR.

Sorry, 1980 300TD

You can safely blockoff any and all lines associated with the EGR (for offroad us eof course )

Is this your legal disclaimer? lol

If the thermo-valve is bypassed, wouldn't the EGR be running all the time?

We still don't know what car you're inquiring about.

Thermo-Vac valve

On my OM617 engine (300CD) the thermo-vacuum valve is replaced by a brass pipe plug.

I also installed an EGR Delete Kit that removed the EGR valve, blocked off intake and exhaust with custom-made plates and gaskets and removed all associated vacuum lines. I think the cost of the kit was about $15.

The car runs smoother and cleaner now with less soot buildup.

The EGR would operate normally, except that its operation would not be inhibited when the engine was cold. It would not "run" "all the time" unless the 3/2 valves were bypassed and vacuum was applied to the valve continuously.

where does one find the EGR delete kit? Ebay?
