300SD blower motor grease

Howdy all. I'm just about to install my new blower motor and noticed a little cup in the housing where the end of the blower motor shaft would be. Should I pack this with some grease? Considering the hassle it was to take out I would prefer some pointers on doing the job right so I won't have to do it again.

I would suggest using a drop or two of atf if you need to lube the blower motor shaft. I would not put amy lube into the little divot below the shaft- that may be provided to catch a drip, nothing more. I suggest atfas you want only a very light viscosity lubricant in that application.

OK. But seeing that shape reminds me of the wheel bearing caps that I had to pack full of grease before putting back on. I think its better to look stupid for a few minutes after asking a question than to be stupid and not do something right.

I understand that!

You def. don't want any kind of grease there. The drag would be a problem, especially in cold weather. I have used atf very successfully in this application.
