Post 90 Litre Fuel Tank Retro W124

Wondering if anyone knows if the 90 Litre tank from the 95 E300D and 500E is able to be retrofitted to earlier W124's? Sounds nice for my 86 300E any thoughts or experiences? While were at it, did the W201 ever have a larger tank? Taxi spec? Thanks! Clip

I heard it's mostly plug-n-play with the Diesel tank. I don't know about the .036 tank. You have to reposition the trunk liner because the tank is deeper. I suppose when you find a tank get the liner with it.

Didn't I once read that all 300Es got 90 liter tanks? If not, the 1995 E300D tank will fit but you have to modify or swap the trunk liners, as Sixto notes, as the larger tank is 2 inches deeper. More fuel, less trunk space. The local "Pick and Pull" chops holes in the tanks to get the fuel out so they are then worthless. You can find used tanks for $100 - $200 but I've never tried installing one.

Thanks!

BTW Did the W201 have a larger tank option as well? I thought the taxi spec did?

And vise-versa for the fun of it.
18.5 gallons = 70.03012 liters (or litres depending on where you live)
