w140(603.) help
I'm in the progress of fixing my w140, and I'll probably have a couple of questions along the way. So I'll start this thread to avoid starting several small threads. I'll try not to hassle you guys too much!
1. I see the wiring going to air pressure sensor(?) is quite bad. Couldn't find any explanation for what this sensor is for. Anyone? 2. Also some more wiring is bad. See pic. I got a quote from dealership on glow plug wiring harness, but there is also engine wiring harness I guess? Anyone got a part nr? 3. EGR valve; found my vacuum hose was disconnected. As I can't drive the car right now, I couldn't check if it made any difference connecting the hose. The car has recently lost some power on inclines and probably a bit on acceleration. Could this be (part) of the cause? Last edited by jajamm; 02-24-2012 at 06:09 PM. Reason: Huge pics |

If EGR isn't functioning the ECU will cut turbo boost.

Ok, so it seems that could be my problem. I'll replace the hose as it was quite worn out anyway.

Do you confirm this is a US spec car?
1) This is a MAP sensor. The turbo wastegate operates on a vacuum signal from the ECU, not a pressure signal from the turbo compressor outlet or manifold. Further, the normal position for the wastegate is wide open. The vacuum signal closes the wastegate when the ECU deems you worthy of power. If the ECU senses something is amiss such as an EGR failure or MAP sensor anomaly, it will limit engine power by leaving the wastegate open. Consider this workaround - Wastegate actuator swap for OM602.962? - when nothing you do restores expected turbo function. Sixto 87 300D |

Sorry, forgot to mention it's an european.
Also, if I'm not mistaken, it seems engine wiring harness is part number 1405402005. Last edited by jajamm; 02-24-2012 at 07:06 PM. |

I was going to drive the car into the garage, but no start. It almost ran a couple of times but then died out. It's like it doesn't get enough fuel. It was standing on a incline overnight. Seals on injectors were leaking and the wiring, as mentioned, was bad. These problems has been there for several weeks though. It was running fine the day before.
Anyone know where to start looking? Don't really want to tow it because of the aut.transmission. |
