5spd Stuck In Reverse?

I was working on my '87 300D today and took it for a test drive after swapping flex disks. All was well but I was having a hard time getting into reverse. I figured it might be the other shifter I swapped out today as well.

Long story short, my transmission is stuck in reverse now
Disconnected all the linkage thinking the shifter went crazy... nope, it's in the transmission. Any ideas?

I have another transmission I was going to put in there at some point, but I guess that will be sooner rather than later.

It was not on a Mercedes but when something like that happened to me it was a case that one of the Transmission Levers was loose where it clamp onto the shaft; meaning the lever would move but only sometimes would slip on the Shaft and the Shaft would not move.

my middle lever, can't recall what gears now, was really loose... so I got an allen wrench on it and snugged it up. I got it loose again to see if the other lever(reverse) would come out of gear, no luck. That was the only thing I did to the transmission today.

Swapped shifters because the one I was using was notchy as heck after my "rebuild", the old one shifted real nice, except for reverse. Had to replace the front flex disk with an old one because mine got damaged by that silly driveshaft balance ring that broke itself away from the rubber.
