Just Bought A 240D Engine and Manual Tranny

Odometer on the junked car shows 193,*** miles. Glow plugs were inoperable but after a few cranks she fired off and ran very, very, clean. Much smoother than my 240D. Very, very smooth!

Don't need it, just bought it to have. Gonna go back next week and remove them from the rusted out body. I would have bought the whole car but it was rusted out too bad to drive the 200 miles back.

Some good parts left on the car.

What year 240? when you go back to pull it, grab the shifter and shift rods, and the front section of the drive Line. If you don`t need them, maybe sell to a member doing a swap.

It`s always good to have spare parts.

Sometimes I really miss my 240D 4 speed. It was painfully slow, but a real tank.

Ill get everything I can.

Same as mine. this is the first yr of the pencil GP. should be a good one.

I hear how slow these 240`s are, but I sure don`t see our`s as being all that bad. we have run it all over the west coast, Oregon, Nevada and Calif.

Iam slowing down some, and it is good to have a car that doesn`t go faster than I can think. ;)

Mark the shafts orientation to each other and bring home both the front and back sections of the driveshaft. Saves potential balance issues. For the time it takes perhaps the door regulators and motors. Many parts are going to be harder to get as time moves forward. I would remove the instrument cluster as well. If the car appears low milage perhaps the rear axles as if the boots are still intact. Maybe the ignition tumbler if it still operates really good with the key?

I too find that my 240 isn't all that slow. It's not a rocket ship, but I can hold my own. I think the really slow ones are in need of some TLC.

Oilslick, If the interior is black I'd be interested in the upper floor mats if they aren't all torn up.

Sorry, no black interior. I will be stripping the car next week hopefully! I am leaning toward keeping the engine for a "rainy day" but I ain't so sure I am gonna keep the tranny. This car even has new bridgestones on it!
