Question Need new low-pressure fuel pump??

My 1983 300D-turbo seems to be slow on takeoff, she is an auto though. Seeing as this is my first diesel Mercedes-Benz, I don't know tons about them. I did an amazing tranny job on her the other day! Anyway, how fast should I accelerate?? I am thinking that all that torque, I could tune some things, and accelerate REALLY fast. Am I correct?? Do I need a new low-pressure fuel pump?? Thanks!!

It depends on what you believe is causing the slowness.

Things that bring the Car back close to Factory spec.
Valve Adjustment
Rebuilding the Injectors
Checking theTiming Chain Stretch to see if it is grossly out of spec.
Fuel Injection Pump Timing
Adjusting the Throttle Linkages (my Car was scary slow until it got up to about 1800rps due to sloppy Throttle Linkage adjustment).
Making sure your Turbo boost pressure is up to spec and making sure the Boost Pressure gets to the ALDA.
Making sure your Fuel Supply System is clean enough that it is not restricting your Fuel Filters
The Fuel Supply/Lift Pump and the Pressure Relief/Overflow Valve both need to be working properly.
Getting rid of the EGR Valve a plugging it of properly

There is section for performance mods.
There is another site called superturbodiesel that has info on mods.
