Larry,

You are absolutely right. However, many people spend tons of money to make street rods out of cars far less worthy than the Mercedes W123.

I mean, I've seen Chevy Novas (not even the cool Chevy II variety) and Porsche 914s with $5k+ engines and paint jobs that cost just as much. I guess it all depends what you're into.

Yes, I'm very familiar with Street Rodding. I've built two from frames on sawhorses up, a '40 Ford Coupe and a '37 Ford Sedan Delivery, both with Small Block Chevy's and four speeds. I also started building a Jag XKE suspended Model A before I found out I was going to be a Father 22 years ago. I have the frame ready for the suspension and much else already done. I will finish this car when I retire.

My comment was toward the hand fabricated IRS for a car such as this.

Have a great day,

Bummer about the website link. I don’t know what happened to that guy’s site. It is the same car that Engatwork posted above – in fact, I think that Engatwork was the person that first posted that link some time ago.

I would check back in the future to see if the site comes back up again. It is well worth it – the car is excellent, and the web site was/is really well designed too.

I can only drool....
the 6.3 badge on the trunk... imagine someone who thinks that the car is just a poser....

The downward facing exhaust tips... That Benz is BAD ASS!!! The car really does not look like a 1970's car....

Look at how clean the interior is...
What a beautiful W123..

Incredible! I think it's excellent.

I emailed him with a list of questions. I hope he's not annoyed, but since he put it on the Internet, I assumed he expected some attention.

How much do you all think that cost? Great project though, very impressive.

He did a good job on the site. I met the guy at Forsyth, Ga at a car show where he was showing it. The tranny is listed as a Chevy 700-R4, I have heard that this is one of the best for getting really good fuel milage - overdrive with lock up torque converter if I heard right.

Come on, guys! Tell the truth now, we'd all really like to see the Corvette that has the 5-cylinder Diesel in it. Ooooohhh, yeah!

HAHAHAHA
Imagine that... a new Corvette Z-06...
the engine moved into a 300D, and the 5-cyl diesel into a hot rod body!
hahahaha... a corvette that sounds like a truck at the stop light..
that's funny..

I must admit, this guy did a VERY nice job. I have seen some hack-saw conversions and am not generally a fan of the whole idea but at least this guy had the class to do it right. Bravo! It will never happen to my 300D! I still prefer american headlights, they look sportier to me. The Euro-headlights just look to me like they're still in the larvae stage. I can't get used to them.

Ha Ha, so that's what it is...! I think the Euro lights look unfinished and fuzzy. Never thought of a larva stage...:p
I bet the europeans want to convert their cars to american spec lights, just to be different!

Did you know that BMW's will always have round headlights?
They say that this is the most effecient collector, and focuser of a light beam, and that they will always equip their cars with round lights, regardless of which market they sell in.
