Any transmission Gurus? Can I install a 96 E300D into my 1997 E300D?
Can I install a 96 E300D transmission into my 1997 E300D? My 97 is an electronic tranny while the 96 is not. I would think that this may mess with the ECU but really what do I know. Thanks for any advice.

No,
The engine ECU needs signals from the trans ecu & the trans ecu needs info from the valve body.

You did though. Think of what you would feel like had you gotten the other transmission and installed it. There are a lot of brands now that almost demand the same exact transmission interchange. Or the electronicaly controled shifts etc just do not work out. Your thoughts were even more of a reach.

Really? I dont know about you but I would never purchase a part let alone a transmission before I knew it was compatible.
"Your thoughts were even more of a reach." what exactly did that mean? |
