85 300CD best trans fluid?

Doing a trans filter change on my 1985 300CD. Had this car for a year so far and the trans is a little funny but has never gotten worse. It is a little hesitant after you shift from P to D and the first shift of a journey is always really hard. The it seems to have no real issues. It has never gotten worse or better and I figure I won't worry too much about it. That being said, I'd still like to change the fluid and filter for general maintenance.

Any recommended brands/weight/type or any additives to recommend?

Thanks.

I always run AmsOil, they make ATF, and that is what I use. Works great, but is $15 a quart.
