Very sad story thus far, and I hope it turns out for the best for you in the end. My suggestion is to stop payment on the c.card or check ABSOLUTELY FREAKING RIGHT NOW! Don't get scammed like I did, where I was strung along for weeks, only to be told by the credit card company that it was over 30 days and nothing could be done... Call the better business bureau and open a case as well. It helps to have them make contact with the business to let them know they are monitoring the situation.

I had a long talk with a local auto repair shop owner recently and he basically said "Sometimes, we f- up. It happens every once in a while. It's part of the business. When we f- up, it's my job to make it right." He was talking about customers who came in with broken stuff and tried to accuse the shop of the damage, when the customer had done the damage, but he also explained that he had insurance to cover stuff like this, and that if his techs damaged someone's car- he would do what was right, "because that is what you do."

I can't imagine the owner would have approved of such an installation on ANY vehicle POS, garage queen, or whatever. It's simply an unacceptable installation on any vehicle. Missing a clip? Get another clip. It's a glass shop they break clips all day long....

Best of luck to you. Let us know how it goes.

Soooooo.... Long story short, finally heard from owner, asked for his assurance that situation would be dealt with properly and soon. He called today and apologized, told me that they would do whatever it takes. I offered to help him get the parts (because I don't feel confident they will get the right ones, plus I want to get it movin'), he said get whatever I needed, he would pay for the parts w/ cash. When I take the car back, I'm going to request that the owner, (or his best tech) make the repairs, while I hang tight and keep an eye on things.

If I could get the part from the dealership I would, but I think it's unlikely they will have a chrome trim piece for a 115... I hope I'm wrong. I've got a parts car lined up to look at tomorrow, and I need to find the appropriate clips and moulding inserts (extra so they won't feel the need to further improvise) for 115 windshield trim.

I do believe his tech was just a half-asser, and the owner will take care of me... Will update in the future and thanks for all of your comments. I'm generally a pretty easy going guy and hate having to deal with crap like this.

It's Ron who's the ace with the 115 right? Maybe I will call/pm him...

Let us know how it works out. If there is a "happy ending" or at least a reasonable conclusion to this story, I'd like to hear about it since they are sadly so rare these days. Best of luck.
