Hi Folks: A newbie here with a problem with a 98 E300 turbo. It has a KKK blower and I am getting a P0243 and P0235 CEL. I checked the wastegate solenoid and I believe it is faulty. I came to that conclusion by switching the solenoid with the EGR solenoid. After doing so I couldn't start the car, and got a P0100 MAF sensor CEL.
I switched them back and the car started again and after clearing the P0100 CEL it didn't come back on.
So, I believe the wastegate solenoid is bad, but also I can't seem to hold vacuum on the actuator inlet hose. I don't have a mighty vac at my access but I sucked on the hose and held the tip of my tongue on the end and the vacuum eventually went down. I could also see the actuator control rod return to its home position retracted into the actuator can.
Am I correct in thinking that the actuator is like the vacuum advance can on old distributors and should continually hold all the vacuum thats placed on it?
Also if I'm correct in my thinking, I would like to know where I can buy just the actuator and control rod assembly. Phil @ Peach shows its only available as part of the entire turbocharger assy. Way too much expense for my current problem as I see it.
Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
