Yes I would rather have the manual CC, no leaky sunroof, rollup windows, clean title, etc.
But there is some rust on the 240, the doors don't shut as nice, the rear window surround is rotted, I would have to swap the rear diff too.
also don't know the condition of the brakes, steering, etc. the 240 has 300k my 300 has 195k so should be in better shape seems like.
How do you pull both the engine and trans together?
RRRR....

Unhook all the hoses, wires and linkages, remove radiator and strap the oil cooler to the motor so you don't have to disturb the oil cooler hoses (though this would be a good time to change them), unbolt all the mounts (2 motor, 1 transmission) unbolt the driveshaft, hook on a chain and lift. You'll have to wiggle it around as you bring it out but it should be straightforward. If lifting the engine and tranny together you'll need to attach to the hooks with a pickup point toward the rear of the motor.

Be patient, there is a lot to unhook. Don't forget the engine to chassis ground strap which will be down low and bolt to one of the bolts near the adapter plate between the engine and transmission.

Its not rocket science but there is a lot to unhook and it takes some time.

I think there's too much rust in the 240 to justify the effort.
Guess I'll be leaving the engine and swapping everything over to the 300d body.
thanks for all the info! I'll have questions I'm sure as I get into it.

This thread might be of use to you.
Engine Swap Question

Then if you are going to scrap the 240, cut the radiator mount. (piece hood latches to) and then you don`t have to lift the engine/trans so high to clear it, It comes out more or less straight out.

You are juggling quite a few balls, which one do you catch and hold on to?

MPG update

Had to put the trans swap on hold due to other life projects- but it's waiting for me when I get around to it.
On another note, I recently completed a 2000 mile road trip and clocked an average of 30 mpg with my auto trans and 2.88 rear end. Averaged between 60-65 mph most of the time. That's with 185 series tires aired to 35 psi, passenger mirror and antenna delete, no bumpers or a/c, EGR/ALDA blocked. Turns out the WVO drops mileage down a pretty consistent 3mpg as I was averaging 26-27 on straight veg.

Heat in the winter and shade in the summer, dual purpose.

Sure beats those scrawney sun baked chicks in texas.

I don`t live in either place, but if you need a load of the fatties, go to any Walmart.
