Cat Ox Delete pics, + my 85 300D (mini intro?)
 

I thought some of you might be interested on how I did my cat-ox delete. I have to say that it was worth every second of my time. If I couldn't do it myself I'd probably buy the pipe that monstercraftsman sells. I noticed a good HP gain and a huge improvement on how fast the turbo spools up.

I welded the cat to the table to make a one time JIG, then cut out the cat...

Then welded some 2.25 and 2.5" tubing in it's place; it was what I had on hand and worked really well, the 2 sizes step up to the turbo and fit the flanges perfectly. Then cut the tack welds off the flanges and it fit perfectly.

Here is the car, I bought it for $2500. It had new Michelins and a new battery. Was at auction- I fear what happened to the original owner, I don't know why you'd put new tires then have to rid of your car.

I'm Jake, a Toyota guy, but have owned a few european cars, have a Dodge am not too brand loyal. Got a really nice 85 300D CA recently, am enjoying it so far, it's different and different is always good!

Were you able to do the job with Tubing that you bought or do you have access to equipment to bend the Tubing yourself?
The same with the Flanges; did you make or purchase them.

It's mandrel bent exhaust tubing, you buy it in a 180 degree U bend then just cut the bends and weld as necessary. Hence the unnecessary looking 3 welds in the tubing. summitracing.com has them for ~$20 per 180 mandrel.

How fortuitous it what you had the stock on hand. That's probably the best way to do that. I think having a gradual step up would be better for flow instead of the smaller pipe dumping into that large T3 opening.


He cut the old trap ox flanges out and used them. The good thing is those flanges are not cast iron, so he can weld them up those pipe pieces.
