Oiling issues solved

OK so I lost the cam and cam supports in my 300d. The PO sold me the car with a bad knock. To get it running I swaped the engine with a good used peice purchased from a form member.

As I'm tearing down the original block to part it out I fond a piece of shop rag in one of the oil gallerias in the head. Plugging it up like a cork. Head has never been off from what I can tell. Now I know the OP did not fail as I had originally thought so the Injector pump and all other parts were full of oil and in good working order

Now I need to pull the pan to see if the strainer is still installed. I'll snap a pic later. WTH.

Bad mechanic and some paper in the oil filter housing and I end up having to do a swap. Anyone ever seen something like this happen.

It looks like the paper oil starved the last 3 cam towers and they burned up. The first tower is in good shape as was the cam there but the others were burnt and cracked.
