New member intro coconut creek Florida

I live in coconut creek Florida and have had my blue 1983 240d Mercedes since '08. In October of last year the tranny went on the car and I was able to find a good deal on a 300d with a good engine and tranny. The swap was just finished as I have got a VW Gti so I let the Mercedes sit around for a bit. After finishing the swap I was disappointed by the power as I wasn't feeling much of a gain. I then did a but of research, and cleaned the banjo bolt with little difference. I ten decided to remove the ALDA and plug the line from the banjo bolt and the difference is night and day. I can't believe the difference! I have always been fond of my old diesel and plan on keeping this one for a long time.

My mercedes has the lovecraft biofuel system tho I don't plan on using veggie oil anytime soon.
This car was bought for me by my father who had one when he was younger. I tend to drive too fast so he figured that this car would slow me down a bit. Would love to meet people in the area who share the same love with these cars as I do. I will be investing in a cad plating kit in the next month to get the motor to the point that I want it to be and am looking forward to playing with that. The bad at this time is that the transmission shifts a bit rough so I will have to tinker with vacuum? A few ball joints will need to be replaced and while I had the car parked, I lent my head unit to a friend who in turn, ended up damaging it so I'll have to get a new one. Also, vacuum in doors is leaking so I disconnected it and my engine temp gauge currently isn't working.

Thank you all, I also have 2 12" subs in the truck but decided not post that because I know most people on here would not find that tasteful on a car like this one. I played around with the rims one day and will post the pictures so you can see the w123 with the rims off of the Gti, don't worry there rims are back to stock now

Welcome to the Board!
there are both purists, and modders on here! fear not to post anything you like on the cars... don't paint flames on the car though... heh.
I've played with several wheel combos in my cars. it's hard to get a set that clears the odd tie-rod design on the 123/126 though. We've got a Wheel and tire forum on here for that too!
for the Head unit, I install different things here. I feel the original becker or the baukpunkt look best, but without modding them, they don't have the features many on here want. I've got a slideout touch in mine at the moment. subs are difficult to make work right on our cars due to the fuel tank kinda blocking the flow... venting through the first aid kit helps.
we've got a car-audio-multimedia forum as well.

Welcome aboard!

oh, and that "conversion" from lovecraft is NOT a good system. DO NOT USE IT FOR VEG OIL FUELING!!!
we have a forum dedicated to veg oil use, and the lovecraft system is renowned for destroying these engines.
it does NOT properly filter or heat the oil, and overall it's just a total waste of space in the car.
PLENTY of fine conversions available, as well as plenty of properly done DIY methods that are wonderful on the cars.

I heard a lot of bad things about that system so I'm only using it for the diesel, thank you for the info! I look forward to posting more on here. Tranny is now shifting right and the temp gauge is also working properly
