Finally broke the 30mpg mark in my 240D

The other day I filled up and calculated the miles per gallon. I finally broke the 30mpg mark! I've been hovering around 28-29mpg. But have been wanting to get above 30. Well I did it by 0.69mpg. Hopefully as the weather warms up the mileage will as well.

Congratulations!!!

I drive 100 miles a day round-trip to work and I get 25-27 average mpg on my 300SD. I broke 30 mpg only once on a long trip.

22 mpg is the worst it ever got and that was 100 mph with the A/C on over a long distance...Robert

The diesel coming out of the refineries is a little more dense in the summer, so more energy per gallon. They don't have to meet the cold weather specs anymore. My 190D is 38-40 in the winter and 40-42 in the summer.

We will be coming up your way on wed with 2 240D`s. a 80 4-spd and a 82 automatic.
80 334k
82 134K

I usually hit the 30mpg range easily, I think with the 3:58 Diff bumps it up a little.
We will be using the GPS`s to check the MPG.

I just replaced the 17gal tank to a 21 gal from a 300D. that extra 4 gallons might hold me back. plus we will be fully loaded down with tools, baggage etc... but get out of our way on the down hills, we`ll be rolling.

Hey, my manual transmission 240D hit 31 on the last two fill-ups! But I drive 55 mph, and keep my tires inflated to 35 psi. Charlie, give me a shout when you get in town.

We will be coming back on the 7th of May as far as I know, maybe sooner if we
get our fill of In-laws, outlaws and other relatives .

Maybe we can meet up for a Carl Jr. grease burger.

This is pretty much how I have driven the 300SD everyday for the past 76,000 miles since the rebuild and the worst mileage I have ever gotten is 22 mpg...

About 22 seconds from 60 to 100 mph and that was before I upped the boost and shimmed the ALDA to 3.0mm...
