personal recommendation

Hey Tom.

These guys have personally done work for me --- new Cummins injection pump on my brown 2000 Dodge Ram 2500, rebuilt various injectors (odd ball types) from old generators, and injection pumps for me, etc. Give them a shout and tell them I sent you:

Diesel Care - The best in diesel performance and fuel injection!

If you need more information, shoot me a PM.

Thanks Dave!

I am a long-time TDR member. The general consensus is to buy "new" injectors as opposed to "remans". What kind of issue do you have that makes you think you need injectors? There is no such thing as a "low price" Figure on spending $3000 for a good set of replacements.

If the truck sits over night it won't start except with a whiff of ether. My indie tested the pressure and the two sensors and believes this is the solution. I can have the injectors tested for forty dollars each but I hear that at 140K they are likely toast.

Seems ridiculous but what is your experience?

BTW what is TDR. please?

The common rail injectors are very high. My brother has some maybe. He sent a set to get tested by industrial injection. There is a guy I would suggest to send them to if you want to have them tested and rebuilt. His name is Zachary Hamilton. He has a brand new machine to test and rebuild common rail injectors. He is out of liberty hill Texas. His shop is called Hamilton cams. If you want I can post his contact info. Good luck

Yes please.

I am leaning toward having at least two tested....one from the end and one from the center of the motor.

His number is 18883982988 or 5127789418. He is a great guy to deal with. He is very sharp and love the common rail engine. Good luck and hope you getting her running good.

Tom.

While you are calling around today, please give a call to Sam Rivera at Diesel Care and Performance. His number is 800-961-9290. You could talk to anyone though for a price quote on injector testing.

Before you start taking anything apart, buy a test cap so you can eliminate one injector at a time. Another thing you can do is re-torque the cross tubes- they could be leaking also. I hear of some TDR members running injectors for 300K miles and the truck still runs fine. The killer is dirty fuel and elevated pressure from after market boxes. Glacier Diesel Power makes a nice add-on 2 micron filter kit that is absoultely complete for your application.

I would be leary of a $40 injector "test", as the official Bosch test unit is over $200K.

Yesterday i sprang for new rebuilt injectors for the Dodge. Ouch!

Thanks for all the tips guys!

I may have damaged them by filling my tank two or three times with gasoline and driving the three miles home on it.

I'm going to sell this truck. AS soon as I get the new bed on it I am going to clean out the interior wax it and sell it.

You should get good $ for it. That's a desirable combination and the best of the common rail engines.

Replace the injector tubes when you do injectors. They often leak after injector replacement. If you haven't installed them yet, I would get a set of tubes and do that first. Cylinder 5&6 are a very common leak point on those. You might be able to torque them a little more to see if that helps but if they are leaking now they will leak again.
