Best Muffler for 87 300D

My 1987 300d turbo needs a new rear muffler. The question is which muffler is the best value? From the various parts vendors there are a nubber of selections. What experience have you had with the different Brands? Thanks.

Has your car had the cat recall performed? No football under the hood.

Yes the cat recall was done. Does that make a difference with a muffler?

You get a new exhaust when they remove the cat. I'm not sure if that includes the muffler though.

Hello, I get alot of parts for my 87 through "*******************************"

They have a Ansa factory replacement for for under $200
Ansa W0133-1715273 Muffler
I put this brand of muffler on my 190E about 50K ago and no problems to date

they pay for shipping over $60 purchase

They always ship super fast and they pay for return shipping and are super easy to deal with. if you call their 1 800 number to order, and double check with the salesperson to make sure you are ordering the right part, you can ask them for a discount, and you will usually get 5-10% break.

WARNING!!!
Please, this website is the best in the world at what it does, it's paid for by the sale of parts on the site. the prices are excellent, and the ability of Phil to find what is needed is above and beyond, so intentionally bypassing the security of the site, and advertising for competing parts sites, is just plain wrong...
please refrain from this practice in the future.

I search online a while before I purchase items and 95% of the time

the above mentioned company has it the cheapest.

That might be true, but their mercedes forum sucks. The sponsor of this forum also sells parts.

No muffler! Just put a turndown tip and the end and you're all set

If you insist, the OEM can be had here or at a junkyard.

Aftermarket- Aero Turbine mufflers get good reviews.

87 300D muffler might be hard to source at the lot.

Went to three pick & pull yards. On all w124 cars the mufflers were gone. Started looking at the various web sights that offer Mercedes after market parts. Seems like ANSA and Eberspaecher mufflers are available. Prices are similar. Any thoughts of one over the other?

I've used Ansa on other cars, with no complaints. For my W201 I found a NOS OEM exhaust that a friend had in his collection, that obviously worked the best.

Have you called the dealer to price one?
