Vacuum pump swap?

Hello,
wanted to know if i can switch out vacuum pumps on a 1979 300sd with a om617 with a vacuum pump from a 1980 300td with a aspirated om617?

my issue is....the '79 pump has to exit ports on the pump; one that attaches directly to the brake booster and the other went to the air filter housing. anyways, the stock air filter housing is gone and has been replaced, so, i have no need for the second port.

the 1980 vacuum pump is in really good shape and has the single exit port....would this pump be compatible with the "79 turbo charged engine? and seem to have identical mounting surfaces and internals.

I believe all you have to do is put some sort fo little Air Filter on the port of the Vacuum Pump that went to the intake manifold. I think they have Crankcase Breather Filters that would work.

I do not know for sure but I think there is some differences as to how the Vacuum Pumps Are Lubricated.
Some of the Timer Bolts have a passage to squirt Oil out of the front; some do not. I do not know which is which because I did not pay attention.

But, if you went to your favorite internet parts sellers and looked up the replacemen Vacuum Pumps for each of the Models and they had the same part number that would tell you they could be interchangable.

I have swapped pumps between 616s and would guess its the same with the turbo 617s but cant say for sure. I also swapped air filter tops.
