1999 E300 LCD Dash

As if on cue the odo/temp/time/lcd went blank. Can this be replaced, or does the whole "pod" have to be replaced?

whunter, thanks for the links, I went through them could not find one that applies to this vehicle. It's just the pixels(odo, temp, trip)that have faded, the remainder of the display works. I know I've seen a thread for this problem in the past, however now after searching could not fine it. Thanks

hi mate

most probably you have to replace a ribbon to lcd module,
they come separated or in kit (for 3 LCDs)

cheers

edit: if all 3 are gone in same moment some other thing may occurred (you have to yank it out and see ...)

After having sent the instrument pod to two other shop, who said they could fix it, but did not, & then considered a diy fix. I stumbled on Speedometer Repair and Odometer Repairs at Low Prices! Instrument Cluster Repair! and spoke to Andrew.

While he did not guarantee a fix, he said he believed he could repair it. I got it back yesterday put it in the car & it works perfectly. During the trip back the little round trim piece from the speedometer had come off, it was an easy fix, but Andrew was willing to stay on the phone all day until I was satisfied, oh he also replaced all the lights. It was $189 & I highly recommend this shop for those that need this fix.
