It has an interesting history...

and thanks! It was bought new by Kenny Rogers and later leased to numerous big name acts back in the day; one of which was Jimmy Buffett.

I am in the process of verifying this and so far I am impressed.

I have just installed a low mileage 6v92T engine and 740 Allison Trans and both have 90k on them. I am rebuilding the interior. THe interior has seen its better days.

I have another one of these buses that I am going to sell. I am just holding off in hopes that the market will come back at least some.

My plan is to finish the interior and maybe tow the 240D behind it to a MB get together.

Isn't a 6v92 in a bus that size somewhat comparable to a 616 in a 123?

Maybe

All I know is that it came new with one and it's rated at 350hp. Cruises at 85mph effortlessly.

Having new injectors installed in a few weeks. Lots of black smoke. Everything else has been eliminated so the injectors are coming out.

No, the 92s were the bigger engines. The 8V92 was pretty much the biggest GM-Detroit Diesel you saw in a standard bus.

The Cummins had its own version and Carterpillar used 3208 V8s and 3406 inline 6ers.

In those days GM DDAD had inline 3 cylinder 159 cu in diesels at one end and TYPE 149 gigantic-a$$ boat engines at the other, with the Electromotive diesels in the middle!

The 149 was in the middle. The locomotive engines were 567, 645, or 710 cubic inches per cylinder. I think DDAD should be DDED, Detroit Diesel Engine Division. They were all designed by Charles Kettering, father of the electric starter and the battery-coil ignition system.

I think DDAD might have been Detroit Diesel Allison Div.

Whoa

A bus?? Never seen one of those on here. But definitely a cool acquisition. I know if I had that, my friends would beg me to be DD all the time. Nice find.
