anybody tried to install older w123 dsl into W124 body?

some people I knew has a seized w124 300d engine, they're looking for an orig dsl engine , but kind as rare as hens' teeth, so i suggest maybe take the w123 turbo dsl eng & tranny together and drop into the w124 body.
any suggestion from the best & brightest?
thanks in advance

I bought my SD from the guy who is selling this car Mercedes diesel
Last I was there he had another w124 diesel with a good engine he was willing to let go for cheap. It had been parked for a few years and he didn't drive it anymore. Might be worth an email.

I sold some parts to a guy who bought a car that was a 300E with an OM617 swap, he didn't do the swap. It was strange, even had the 116 radiator and oil cooler in it. Had manual glow plugs, and a cable you had to pull to shut it off, a little sketchy.

But yes, I have seen a OM61X in a W124.

rare as hens teeth?
in the US alone, there are over 7,000 124 diesels out there. more if you consider the 606, and the 602 in the mix.
also, from a donor engine standpoint, the 126 chassis has the same motor... after 86, and in 91 the .971/.972 rod bender motors are out there and available...

talked my buddy not to do this conversion for somebody, he could run into lots of un-needed aggravations.
basically an uncharted sea to sail.

to fabricate the mount can be very painful.
7-8 yrs ago i bought a 85 w126 which was a imported 500sel, somehow the eng was swapped with a 5 cyl non turbo, i guess the rear end was too low ,so the acceleration is not even faster than a 240D. With 80 hp is not all that powerful, not sure why the conversion dude didnt splurge on a TurboD?
I saw one engine mount was a custom job, looks painfully complicated, it bended certain way, as the hole on the body side had to move forward or back ward for 2-3 inches.
And some recessing too ( less height ).
my current sd is also a conversion from 380se import version too, it even has a fire extinguisher under the driver seat.
upside has ABS, which only come sin on 85 models.
