Does anyone manufacture an R4 to Sanden kit for the 617?
I do not have the time nor will power to build my own. I am looking for a kit like this:
Amazon.com: Air Products Air Conditioning Conversion Kit: Automotive Just installed on my 735i and works fantastic. I really would not like a kit full of hoses, the compressor, etc as that will just jack up the cost. I want only the bracket as I will build my own hoses and purchase a compressor on my own. The place in E. Texas (European Cooler Air) makes one, but the kit is $625 + shipping... with bracket and compressor only. I am hoping for a price around $200, but if not I will end up going with the ECA place. Found this for you W123 guys... Mercedes W123 Parallel-Flow Condenser Conversion Kit (240D, 300D,TD,CD) | eBay Thanks

I also am looking for a bracket to mount a Sanden compressor on an OM617. I had to eliminate the compressor on my swap because the R4 interfered with the subframe. I plan on fabricating one, but if one is available that would save a lot of hassle. Haven't found one yet.

The only Sanden conpressor I have seen is on a Euro 123 in a PNP. I pulled it thinking it would fit my 617.952. no fit.
Here is a thread where I posted pictures of it. Alternative compressor and/or mount for the Euro w123 This one is made by a company in England as I remember. contacted them to see if they still have them available. replyied that are NLA. Later on I found another one, but only a few pieces. first one is made of aluminum and second one made of steel. Member 1980SD, made one for his 80 300SD. think he started with the bracket made to up grade from a York to Sanden. Charlie

I emailed the Klima guys, they are apparently working on a bracket. Will keep everyone posted.

They were unable to disclose an approximate price point as the product is not yet available, but seeing as the PF condenser kit for the W123 is pretty reasonable to me... I would expect the Sanden bracket to be reasonable.
The cat I spoke with is named Matthew. He also told me they would offer the bracket with or without the compressor, depending on the end users needs. Perfect for me as I have a spare 508 sitting on the shelf. You early W126 SD guys should message them too as you have lame condensers. Only '85s received updated ones like the late W126s.

The price for the P-flow condenser kit sounds fair so I imagine a bracket will be fairly priced as well. I'm with you on around $200...

so you are saying I will not get great performance from an R4 and my stock condenser in my 1984 and I need to replace both if I don't want to melt?

Having gone through hanging a compressor on the BOTTOM of one of these engines it'll be interesting seeing how they mount it. I wonder if it'll be aluminum, steel, available during our lifetimes etc...
The bolt-on condenser outfit looks sweet!

Condenser is the biggest issue... it cannot dissipate the heat fast enough due to the tube size. R4 is not a great compressor, but the condenser is the biggest issue. MB also updated that water pump pulley, fan blade, aux fan size, etc around '85.

Email that place, you may be surprised. If they offer a direct swap PF kit for the W126 SD, I may just buy one too.
